A locally owned and operated company committed to delivering a real alternative to Dubbo
As rural and regional Australia come to terms with the sell off of Telstra, two innovative locals are introducing Wireless Broadband across Dubbo, something the telecommunications giant never managed to achieve.
As businessmen, Steve Tonniges and Don Schumacher know just how important it is to have high speed Internet. Problem is, according to Telstra, their homes are too far from the Telstra exchange to access ADSL. Fed-up with dial-up they began investigating what could be done to bring Dubbo into the 21st century. They found Phone Snoopa, a telco specialising in establishing community based telephone companies and regional Wireless Broadband networks. Within four weeks, Dubbo had a fully functional Wireless Network, 100% independent of the Telstra copper network.
“It’s like putting a TV aerial on your roof and pointing it in the right direction to get Broadband. The equipment is paid for under the Government’s HIBIS scheme, so all the customer pays for is an installation fee and a monthly access charge starting at $59.95.”

The Snoopa Wireless Gateway connects directly into the Internet, via Soul Pattison Telecommunication’s Point of Presence (POP) located in Dubbo. Base Stations are also strategically located to ensure coverage from the airport out to East Dubbo and out past the sales yards.
As well as this breakthrough in Broadband, Snoopa Community Dubbo also offers services for fixed line and mobile at dramatically reduced rates.
“Our fixed line rates are guaranteed to save at least 10% on call charges and neither our fixed or mobile services have any contracts.”
Don Schumacher
Snoopa Community plans to introduce a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service through its Wireless network before Christmas.
“In a community that uses this type of network, all customers on the network will be able to talk to one another free of charge for as long as they like. Savings on all other call types will also be significant.

Connection to this service is available now by visiting Retravision in Dubbo or by calling Don Schumacher on (02) 6884 2307.
